FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Chiropractic Care & Tongue Ties

  • How chiropractors help with tongue ties?

When a child has oral restrictions, their whole body has to compensate. This is either due to a tongue tie (genetic) or subluxation (body tension or misalignments). When the body compensates, often there is a high level of tension in their body and nervous system. Ideally, your child is checked by a pediatric chiropractor and has their nervous system evaluated and treated instead of a release or before/after having a release done.

  • Why it can help?

This gives you and your chiropractor a baseline for the level of strain on your child’s body and nervous system. Once your chiropractor starts the process of balancing your child’s nervous system and releasing tension in the body, your dentist will find they don’t need to perform a release or they can perform a more complete release and there will be a better chance of avoiding reattachment or the need for a revision.

In addition to the recommended exercises from your dentist and/or lactation consultant, chiropractic care will serve to rewire the neural pathways and create lasting change.

  • What can be done?

Our Pediatric chiropractors and massage therapist:

    • provide chiropractic adjustments + craniosacral therapy + myofascial release to gain optimal function.

    • Support and guidance through a release process or support through bodywork without doing the release.

    • Continue chiropractic care for wellness and monitoring symptoms as child progresses to avoid future issues.
